Ralph Moscato
Biography
Ralph J. Moscato was a freelance artist and co-founder of
A.F.A. He had a B.A. in psychology from New York University
and a B.F.A. in illustration from the School of Visual Arts.
He exhibited work in many New York art galleries and
achieved success and fame in the art community.
Although he suffered with Cooley's Anemia, a terminal blood
disease, and developed numerous complications, Ralph
continued to produce works of art until 1984.
The Cooley's Anemia Foundation will be honoring Ralph
and conducting a silent auction of his limited editions at
Tavern On the Green, and the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
His work will be sold to raise money for the foundation's
research and development. Private galleries and
universities will be exhibiting his work during the next few
years.
Ralph received many awards
from New York
University. He was awarded membership to their most
prestigious society and received the Mark Carroll Gold Metal
at a specific award ceremony at The Muse. In his short
lived life of 32 years, he accomplished more then most
people do in a lifetime. He persevered under the most
unusual conditions.
A genuine sense of joy and natural repose permeate his
work. Ralph had a passion to embrace the overlooked as
precious, and the unheralded as noteworthy; and to elevate
his artistry from the depths of his understanding. His work
is the unbroken thread connecting yesterday, today, and
tomorrow.
